10 Reasons We Love Fall

  1. Fall Fashion

You’ve got to be with me on this one, right?? Fall is the season with the best clothes. It’s not even a competition. You have the most options because you can layer without getting hot, but not have to cover up your cute outfit with a parka. It’s the season of sneaks, booties, flannel, and hats and I love every moment of it.

2. Holidays

Halloween and Thanksgiving are two of the best holidays all year, if you ask me. You mean I get to dress my kids up in adorable costumes and walk them around town asking for candy? What’s not to like?

Pumpkin Spice Lattes. It’s been said. I’m just here to compile an accurate list and I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t include this heavenly concoction.

4. Family

Something about fall to me means family. During the summer months, everyone in my life seems to be extra busy with trips and plans, but fall is a time when we all come back together. We sit down over long meals, we travel home for Thanksgiving and see loved ones, we spend quality time doing fun fall activities (see #9). I so look forward to making new memories with my family during every fall season.

5. Food

It’s harvest time! Brussel sprouts, pumpkin, sweet potato, squash… they’re all in season! It’s time to break out the pie recipe (or go to the local bakery like me) and savor the flavors of fall.

6. Weather

In Chicago, fall weather is the BEST. I wish that it lasted a bit longer; it always seems that we have one amazing week and then it plummets into winter too soon. However, while it lasts, we enjoy sunny days in the mid 60s, comfortable in a light jacket and jeans. Bonfires keep us warm at night and we savor the last few weeks of moderate temps.

7. Sports

Whether you are into football or not, most of us can still get behind the things associated with football. Comfort food, parties, spirit wear…it’s all good in my book. Whether you are tailgating the game or watching from a sports bar or friends apartment, gamedays define fall for many of us.

8. Fall Colors

The colors in nature and the colors of our wardrobes are at their peak in fall. We trade in the bright colors of summer (as our tans fade) for muted, darker tones. I love layering greens, blues, browns, and grays in fall. And everyone looks good in the colorful backgrounds of nature during autumn. It’s hard to describe the feeling when you see that tree on your block that has turned a spectacular red. The natural beauty of this season is truly breathtaking.

9. Fall Activities

We’ve got apple picking, hayrides, corn mazes, haunted houses, pumpkin patches, petting zoos… the list goes on and on! There are so many fun autumnal activities to do and not enough time to do them all. The best part about these experiences is that they are fun with friends, fun on a date, or fun with the family. Literally anyone and everyone can enjoy fall traditions.

10. Decor

We’d be remiss in our blog about furniture and interior design to NOT talk about fall decor. Whether you are into scary halloween or harvest-inspired decor, there are tons of fun options. Everything from Michael’s is always 40% off and you can make a big difference on a tight budget. The internet is full of creative diys; you really could be crafting all season long if you’re not careful!

So, we welcome this new season with open arms and will try to hold onto it tightly. Fall always comes with a little melancholy as we remember the cold that is sure to follow… so live in the moment and enjoy the amazing weather before it’s gone!
