2018 – I’m ready for ya

Last year was a great year. Truly! We bought our first house, grew as a company and shared many wonderful memories together as a team and family. Many of them you got to see on social media, etc. However, there was something missing in 2017.

MegMade grew a substantial percent over the year before and our family is doing wonderfully, but it wasn’t as great as I wanted it to be. I feel like new years offer new promises, but then we feel let down at the end of the year with our lofty aspirations. Instead of doing resolutions this year I want to create permanent lasting and healthier habits. These are not rocket science by any stretch of the imagination, but these are the goals I am hoping that I achieve this year so that I look back in 2019 and say damn, 2018 was good to me!

Work Less, Work Smarter

I work a lot. I have been working 6 days a week for over a year now. However, I don’t need to. If I would just stay laser focused and not get sidetracked I could accomplish a lot more in a lot fewer hours. (and P.S. Blogging consistently is included in this, sorry y’all)

Be good to my body

My husband in a joking (not mean) manner tells me that every time I go to the gym, I am paying like $50. He is so right. I have had a gym membership for 3 years at the same gym and on average go about 6 times a year. Yall, that is bad. I need to eat better and work out more! Cheers to 2017 being the year.

(sorry no picture to go here as there is no evidence that I actually work out…hahaha )

Be a better mom

Y’all, I used to be the mom to beat myself up about not being perfect. I am so over that stage and know that I am a great mom, but there are things I can do better. I work a lot so when I get home, I want to be the fun mom and play games and laugh together. I want to continue that, but I need to be the mom that is teaching them more too. Here’s to learning board games and books for 2018! I mean, we make cute babies, dont we?

Be a more touchy wife

Touch has never been my love language. I love a good conversation, quality time and a extended hug, but holding hands has never been my jam. However, it is by far Joe’s biggest love language. So I am going to slap his but, grab his hand and give him random squeezes more this coming year!

Spend Less, Save More

I by no means am a crazy shopper, but I do like my new shoes, sweaters, make up, shirts, jeans. OK, I lied. I am a crazy shopper. However, I have enough clothes to fit every size of my fluctuating body. So hold yourself back sister! I am going to be wearing old clothes yall, so get used to it. I want to shop less and save more this year. Truth is that money can’t buy you happiness, but it sure does make you feel a little more secure when you have a little in savings. When there is some in there, I feel like I can be more daring with MegMade, knowing there is a parachute. This ones going to be hard. Bring me gift certificates so Joe doesn’t see it hit the card because now I put it out there and he will hold me accountable! (However, I did have him agree to letting me get my nails done every month as per the above mentioned being good to my body. WIN!)

Make New Friends

Sounds so funny, but it was a long conversation Joe and I had the other night. Living in a big city is hard because people come and go. We want to be social and hospitable this year so if you have kids and bottle of wine, bring em over and we can grill out. We have a backyard now after all!

Daily Devotions

I am the healthiest when my soul is healthy. Setting aside time daily to feed my soul is a must!

Now, I am just ready for this cold to go away and the sun to come out! Hope you have a wonderful 2018 too! GO get em tiger!
