This year we're quite literally looking forward to a better and brighter year when it comes to interior design trends in 2021. If 2020 gave us anything, it gave us a chance to reconnect with our homes and find creative inspiration to transform our spaces into what we've been dreaming of!! Since Joe and I are still in the process of renovating our new home, I'm so excited to add these elements into our space and show you guys the finished product! I'm thinking bolder colors, 5x the texture, and broad trends to really get this year started in the right direction.

In the last blog I gave you some tips and tricks to refresh your home for the new year. Use a mix of both of these suggestions to get your home exactly where you want it to be - effortless but still on trend! Here are some interior design predictions I think will rule the year in 2021:

I think I may pray for this every year, but this time I really mean it. Last year neutrals seemed to be all the rage, but I'm predicting that will get old in 2021. Adding pops of color throughout your home gives your eyes a place to land and stimulates your brain mind, which makes the room more appealing. Yes, I think white space is important, but in my opinion, too much white can get old fast, especially when that white fades quickly once your kids get ahold of it! Add pops of color throughout your space though your furniture, throw pillows, rugs, etc. If you're thinking of upping your color game - GO FOR IT!

The Multi-Functional Home

Home has become all things to all people in it. Your dining room is now also your office, game room, and supply closet. Multi-purpose spaces are the new norm, which means we get to be creative with our spaces! I think the best way to go about creating multi-purpose rooms is to map out the main priorities for your family's needs and think through ideas to still make that space fit your look and style. Rearrange the room, find products that work for all your uses, and make it fun! I predict multi-functional pieces won't go away after the pandemic. Why have rooms that only serve one purpose when you can maximize it?!

Statement Offices

This kind of goes along with the last prediction, but home offices are more important than ever before. For so many people, working from home is going to be the new reality. I think it's so important to have a designated area to work from in order to separate your time for work vs. your personal time. Otherwise, it's so easy to never be able to turn off and recharge from work mode. Stay tuned, I'll be posting a blog tomorrow for tips and tricks to creating a statement office on a budget!

Setting A "Zoom" Stage

With or without an office space, working from home most likely requires you to be in a few (probably too many) video conferences. I'm always having to make sure the area behind me looks put together wherever I am zooming from, so why not create a background that you'll love? I'm predicting that what I'm going to call "statement spots" will make a big appearance in homes this year with lots of art, shelves, fun pops of colors, and great lighting for meetings! Not only does it provide the perfect space to hold your meetings, but it'll make the area you're working in so much more enjoyable to look at.

Peel and Stick Wallpaper

I said this last year, but peel and stick wallpaper is going to be a life saver in 2021 if you're looking to spice up your space. It's the perfect solution to creating a curated look on your walls -  especially for renters and people who love to change up their space often. The install is easy and so worth it. Y'all know I love wallpaper, so I'll attach a few links to help you get started. Click HERE to read my previous blog on unique ways to incorporate wallpaper into your home. Laid Back Living

If we've learned anything this past year, it's that being comfy is key. I love formal living rooms - they provide such an elegant look to the home. However, now more than ever, finding comfy but stylish solutions should be at the top of everyone's priority list! There's nothing better than being able to relax and watch movie in a soothing space - and just remember, relaxing spaces can still include pops of color!!

We've been in the house for so long, hopefully we've finally gotten our green thumb in check! I think this should be the year that we all collectively agree that adding plants and greenery into your space livens the place up!! I think it creates such an element of peace and relaxation. Adding plants throughout a room adds an effortless touch of decor that looks natural yet intentional ... and if you're really not confident in your abilities ... get fake ones. I won't tell!

Those are just a few of the trends that I think will make a big appearance in 2021, and I'm loving every single one of them! Let me know what your predictions are!! Comment down below or leave a comment or DM on our Instagram and/or Facebook page @MegMade.
