SETTING GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR!
Y’all – being the founder and owner of a business is hard work. It takes dedication, persistence, and a great deal of love, for others AND yourself, to accomplish and make your dreams a reality, but it’s all so worth it, and I wouldn’t trade a moment of it for the world. Although not every day of running a business is rainbows and butterflies, and there’s hard days to deal with – you know what keeps me going? My goals! With 2020 around the corner, and the best time for a fresh start and new beginning, it’s time to set some goals! Today, I’m going to stray away from the interior design, and work on your own interior! I want to share with you some tips on how I stay organized and goal oriented – so that you can start setting goals for the new year!
STEP 1 : WRITE IT DOWN & REVIST
Write those babies down. Any goal you want to accomplish, you need to start by writing it down – and, writing it down in a place where you are going to see it often! Writing your goal down, get it out of your head, and allows you to become more motivated and persistent to accomplish those goals!
STEP 2: SET GOALS IN ALL PARTS OF LIFE
So ever hear of the ripple effect? Setting a few goals for this new year, in all different wakes of life, will surely help you achieve more while also assessing how you feel about different parts of your life in the moment. And don’t feel bad if you find that you want to do more than you thought – you got a whole year to try and accomplish some of these goals – you can do it!
STEP 3: MAKE SURE THEY’RE REALISTIC
When setting a goal, make sure it’s realistic and possible. You don’t want to set a goal that is unachievable that will make you feel defeated. If you find that your main goal may take more time than a year or so to complete, try setting small milestone goals in between, so that the task doesn’t seem so daunting and there’s a bit more organization to take it on. Plus, this will help you appreciate the journey along the way.
STEP 4: SET MEASURABLE GOALS
The best way to know you’re succeeding, other than to just feel success, is to measure it! Setting goals that gives you an actual measurable aspect, will help you tremendously. To do this, try adding numbers, times, or quantities into the goal.
STEP 5 : DON’T DO IT ALONE
Sometimes, it can be hard to do big things on your own – so why not trying to set goals with your partner, family or even your kids? Creating a family-oriented goal can be a great way to get others involved, hold yourself accountable, and actually even have some fun along the way!
STEP 6: REWARD YOURSELF
Why is that sometimes so hard to do? Rewarding yourself for achieving your goals is something that should go without question. Hey, and it can also be a great motivator!
STEP 7 : CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE
When setting these goals, try to be as positive as you can. Listen, it’s hard sometimes, but try to believe that you CAN achieve them and that you WILL! Say it. I CAN DO IT, AND I WILL DO IT! Having a positive attitude, and believing in yourself is honestly the first step to success!
