SOMETHING SIMPLE TO END THE WEEK

Y’all we had an absolutely amazing week here at Meg Made. One reason is that we got to surprise our deserving single mama from our contest in June with the bedroom of her dreams, and a day of pampering – more details will come about this soon – there is that indescribable feeling that you get from helping others, and let me tell you, I could never get enough of it! But for now, while we usually would do a top 5, I wanted to leave you with something simple, tasty and extra sweet! I know apple picking season is in full swing, which means we’re going to have so many apples that the kiddos picked, and listen, we all know that they’re not all going to be eaten. So rather than wasting, here’s a quick and simple apple crisp recipe, that will for sure get you ready to relax this weekend! I love a good apple crisp. It’s just so easy to make, and super yummy, and really cozy, if you ask me. 

INGREDIENTS:

6 apples, 2tbps white sugar, 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 cup brown sugar, 3/4 cup old fashioned oats, 3.4 cup flour, 1/2 cup cold butter.

DIRECTIONS:

Set oven to 350 degrees. Toss sliced apples (skinless if you want), sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and pour into a baking dish. After that, mix the rest of the ingredients in a separate bowl, and mash the butter to make a doughy sort of texture. Put that mix on top of the apples in the baking dish, and then bake in the oven for about 40 minutes – or until the sides start to bubble!

TOPPINGS:

If you can’t resist a good topping like me, then go on and top off the crip with some powdered sugar, or go all-in with some creamy vanilla ice cream or whipped topping, cinnamon and some caramel drizzle! You will literally feel like you’re in caramel apple heaven!
