Out with the old…
Out with the old-true. In with the new, not so much. See we don’t really every buy anything new. Well, rarely. Usually we buy something old and make it look new.
Anyway, my house is a bit of a revolving door. See, when you don’t live in a big house, but a smaller city apartment, you don’t have as much room to keep stuff. We live in a like 100 year old apartment and there are very little closets and no storage, thus the revolving door. As our Aunt Carol put it so nicely, “if you don’t spend much money on it, you don’t mind selling it.” She’s right, which is why I buy stuff cheap and make it pretty 🙂
This is what I sold on Craigslist. I sold it all for $950 total, which is what I then had in my budget to re-create the space.
I made this apothecary type cabinet 3 summers ago while my hubby was on a mission’s trip in Slovakia. I got the plans from Ana White and then changed them up a little bit. I used gorgeous hand cut reclaimed wood on top. So pretty! It was his birthday present when he got home. We loved it for a long time, but were ready for something new. Good thing neither of us get attached to stuff!
We also sold our industrial cart coffee table and our rug. Gasp, I know. Those are so hot right now! We realize that and were called crazy by a lot of folks, but the truth is it wobbles and the wheels stick out and we were afraid that Wells might fall and knock out one of his only teeth when he begins to walk. So we sold it. P.S. That is an old pic, so we have replaced the couch!
We also sold our dining room table set. This was a tough one as we loved it so much, but we really like having a more square/rectangular table. This table was “redeemed” by our Aunt Carol. She is so talented. Check out her blog. We were so sad to see it go, but the look on the girls face who bought it made it worth it. She LOVED it! Also, our dining room is so small, so we wanted to de-clutter it. That is why we sold the above buffet and the dining room table. We really want to do something to the lampshade. That will come in our future!
So we were coffee table, dining room table, buffet and rug less for a week and then slowly perked the place back up. I’ll post next week about what it looks like now!
