Unique Dining Rooms We Love
Sourcing unique pieces for your dining room can be so tricky! When you move in somewhere, you have to have a place to eat. It can mean that you rush a decision on a table and chairs, and get something everyone your know has. The key to creating a truly unique space is to either 1. take your time or 2. hire a designer who has time to do the sourcing. It usually takes more than browsing the internet to find the amazing stuff. If you’re looking for vintage pieces, you might have to go hunt…or know where to look. Many of the best shops don’t have their inventory online, so it takes a bit of work. Also, you might have to wait for them to get something in that you love.
Working with a designer can be a really great way to find the look you want. You can know what you like, but if you have no idea where to go to get it, then you’re out of luck! Also, if you are busy, working with a designer can be the most efficient way to get a room done. If you cannot afford to hire a professional, then you just need to give yourself time to wait for the right pieces.
As with most things, it is worth the wait! These dining rooms surely took lots of time and effort. If you are going to put the investment into your home and purchase nice pieces, you should be sure you are choosing things you love and that you will love for a long time. I’m trying to remember this as we move into a new home. I want to only make purchases that spark joy as Marie Kondo would say!
What I love about all of these dining rooms is that I can’t identify where every piece came from. In fact, I can’t really tell you where any of these pieces came from for sure! Refinishing can be a good way to make a piece feel unique and custom. Someone might recognize the structure of the piece, but the finish helps to create something totally new that no one else will have.
Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with having furniture that is recognizable or popular. Often, it is popular for a good reason! But if you are looking to achieve something that feels personal and one-of-a-kind, don’t rush it. Wait for right pieces and you’ll love the room for a long time.
