About Us

When they’re not at MegMade painting a piece of furniture or redesigning a home, you’ll see Meg and Joe Piercy taking on DIY projects around their house, taking care of their three boys, or traveling to a new place to enjoy the weekend with their family. This down to earth mom and dad duo are always up for a nice night home with their boys, but when it comes to providing for their family, following their dreams, and growing MegMade - they are unstoppable.

How did Joe and Meg meet? It all started with a blind date. “I knew I was going to marry this guy the second I met him” Meg says, and if that’s not enough to make you believe in the magic these two can create, then I don’t know what is. Joe and Meg were engaged just six short weeks after meeting.

"Joe and I grew MegMade with a lot of love and passion, but the whole thing started with a need we had as new parents. When our baby boy was born, we were broke as a joke, but no matter the circumstance, we needed a changing table. We found a vintage dresser in our alley - yes in the ALLEY -  and we took the opportunity to repurpose it and create a changing table. To say the rest was history is an understatement, because that moment lit a fire inside us that is still burning strong."

Meg and Joe started by painting furniture in their basement to sell on Craiglist, until they came across one customer who insisted they turn their talent into a business.

“When we would meet with any customer Joe would always say 'Meg made that, Meg made this'.One day a customer said to both of us - 'you say Meg made a lot, why don’t you just name this all MegMade?', so that’s exactly what we did.”  After speaking with that customer, the following week they signed a lease on an 800 sq. ft. warehouse, and today - they have a storefront located on Elston in Chicago along with a storefront in Munster, IN. MegMade has grown from its humble beginnings into a national business that designs and ships product all around the country.

Along the way, they got the attention of HGTV and launched a series called Renovation Goldmine where they use pieces the homeowners already own to save them THOUSANDS! This went hand-in-hand with MegMade's message that old is GOLD, and that you can reuse pieces of your own and rethink them in new ways to make them match your personality and style.

“Not only do we paint antique pieces, but we’ve grown into offering all types of finished and customizable furniture, home decor and interior design options as well,” making MegMade a one-stop-shop in redesigning and fully furnishing your home.

With their wide range of customizable options, MegMade guarantees to make your furniture + home decor unique to match your style and personality. Each home is unique to the family that lives there, and they believe that you should have a home that is completely designed for you.

Meg Piercy

Born and raised in Kansas City and graduate of the University of Kansas, Meg Piercy has mid-western roots but always dreamed of living in a big city. After she graduated with a degree in Journalism and Strategic Communications, Meg left her hometown and moved to Chicago, Illinois, looking for the excitement in life that only a big city can bring - little did she know that she would surely build new roots that would last a lifetime.

Meg works with passion and hopes that her customers will see that. With all the hustle and bustle that takes place behind the scenes at MegMade, her absolute favorite part is to see the “after” of her refinished pieces, because that’s where you can truly see and appreciate all that the piece has to offer.

“I am the founder of MegMade, but I’m also a mom, an encourager, creative, scrappy, a hustler, easy-going, a people person, and down to Earth, and I only hope you can see this represented in my designs.”

Joe Piercy

Born and raised in Champaign, Illinois and a graduate with an accounting degree from the University of Illinois, Joe Piercy has always been the life of the party. As once said by his teacher, “ If you search the word 'Joy' in the dictionary, you will see a picture of Joe Piercy”. Joe not only brings joy to his family, but anyone he meets. A former homecoming king in high school (still one of his proud moments), Joe, to this day, continuously shows his influence and leadership alongside Meg at MegMade.

Joe only hopes for people to see how much love is put into each and every project at MegMade. He loves to “get his hands dirty” and being part of the reason a project comes to life. “I just love watching the whole process behind what we do, because although the after is amazing, there is so much hard work, love, and strategy that is put into each and every piece.”

As Meg said, “He’s always the cheerleader,” because Joe is always ready to get things done, he always brings a positive motivation like no other, and always has a half glass full mentality. Joe is a family man and always has been. Joe’s a dad first, and an entrepreneur second, and that is and will always be the driving force behind what he does.
