MEGMADE LIGHTING GUIDE & LIGHTING WE LOVE
Sometimes when you’re hanging a light, things can get tricky! Being unsure of where to place the light, how high to hang it, or if this the right spot for this type of lighting - and all the questions in between may pop up! So today, we’re giving you a simple guide to follow to hang your indoor lights along with some lighting that's perfect for each space!

CENTER ISLAND
Single Pendant
The light should be 2/3 of island length.
(Example: if the island is 6 feet, the light should be at least 48 inches)
30-36 inches from the countertop to the bottom of the pendant.
Two Pendants
One light should be placed 30 inches to the right from the center.
The second light should be placed 30 inches to the left from the center.
30-36 inches from the countertop to the bottom of the pendant.
Three Pendants
Lights should start at least 6 inches (going inward) from each side/edge of the island.
Each light should be 30-32 inches apart from each other.
30-32 inches from the countertop to the bottom of the pendant.

DINING ROOM

Rectangle/Oval Table
The light should be centered in the middle of the dining room table, and be at least 6 inches (going inward) from each side/edge of the table.
30-36 inches from tabletop to bottom of the light.
For ceilings taller than 8 feet, add an additional 3 inches higher for each additional foot (example: for a 9-foot ceiling, it would be 33-39 inches from tabletop to bottom of light).
Round/Square table
The light should measure 1/2-3/4 length of the diameter of the table.
(Example: if the diameter is 36 inches, the light should be 18 - 27 inches in length).

SINGLE PENDANTS AND CHANDELIERS
8-foot Ceilings
The light should be at least 7 feet from floor to the bottom of the pendant.
4 inches away from any surrounding floors.
For each additional foot of ceiling add 2.5-3 inches of height for each additional foot.
Two-Story Ceilings
The light should be placed in the center of the room where the main vignette or focus point is.
If your ceiling is two stories (in a foyer, or loft area) light should not hang passed the ceiling of the floor beneath.
Bedroom
Center of the bed.
Should be at least 7 feet from floor to bottom of pendant.

SCONCES
Over a Buffet
At most 3 inches from the side/edge of each side of the buffet.
5 - 6 feet from the floor.
Over an Entryway Table
8 - 10 feet away from each other.
5 - 6 feet from the floor.
Over a Nightstand
Center in the middle of each nightstand.
45 - 65 inches from floor to bottom of pendant.

BATHROOM
Single Sconce
Should be 3/4 of mirror width.
(Example: if the mirror is 36 inches wide, then light should be 27 inches wide).
Double Sconce
No more than 3 inches away from the mirror on each side.
60 - 65 inches from floor to top of the pendant.
