5 INEXPENSIVE WAYS TO DECORATE FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The holidays are right around the corner, and it's time to add a little bit of holiday cheer to your home! If I'm going to be honest, I'm such a minimalist when it comes to how I usually decorate for Christmas. I often times think less is more. However, this year is a little bit different because I really want to make sure my boys get as much of a holiday experience as they can, so I decided to go all-out more than normal.  Going all-out for the holidays doesn't mean you have to break the bank! I decided to get handy this year and create inexpensive ways to decorate. Here are some ways I've thought of to inexpensively decorate for the holidays:

DIY It

Creating decorations is so much fun - and it's a great activity to do with your kids. I bought some fun crafts that the boys and I are going to make into decorations, so stay tuned for those! These can be as simple as making candy canes for the tree out of gems and pipe cleaners. I think this DIY snow globe is absolutely adorable. I love to go on pintrest to find ideas that would fit into my home. It's so much more fun to decorate when it's something you made yourself, and it DEFINITELY saves a ton.

Add Faux Greenery

Adding faux greenery is such an easy way to make your home look decorated for the holidays without the huge price tag. Live trees and garland can be very pricey - and it only lasts for one season! Instead, buy some faux greenery that you can use every year and costs way less. I love adding greenery to mantles and staircase banisters. It creates such an amazing look. Switch between adding pine cones, tinsel, or bows to give it a revamped look every year!

Invest In One Piece A Year

If you're not a DIYer, that's ok! My recommendation would be to invest in one or two decorations you love a year. Your inventory will be filled in no time! The trick is to not spend hundreds of dollars at once. Start out with a few nice decorations and fill in the gaps with inexpensive or home-made decor. As the years go on, your decor will start to be where you want it to. Having a home for the holidays that you enjoy is so important, but it's not worth stressing over financially.

Use The Nature Around You

Create a winter wonderland in your home by bringing the outside in! Add some pine cones into a bowl or create some fun decor with branches you find outside - get creative! I love this look for the holidays because it also works for the entire winter season. The best part about this... it's FREE!! There's no way to get less expensive than that!

Do Some Thrifting

Finding great decor at an even better price is so satisfying. You use this stuff for about a month out of the year - why not thrift it?! Find something as simple as a glass or wood bowl and filling it with ornaments or fun home decorations that you can make winter themed is all you need. There are also so many discount stores with such cheap holiday decor. The key is to have a good mix of quality vs. inexpensive to make sure your overall decorating still looks great!
