Meg’s Tuesday Tips - The Neon Moment (and Why We’re Actually Into It)

Meg’s Tuesday Tips - The Neon Moment (and Why We’re Actually Into It)

There’s a moment happening right now that feels a little unexpected.
Neon.

And to be honest, I’ve always been into neon, so I’m just glad the moment is finally here.

Because somehow, when it’s done right, it works with every style.

And I know…
your first thought is probably not good.

A little too loud.
A little too “remember the 70s?”
A little too much.

But the way it’s showing up right now feels completely different.

It’s not the neon you’re thinking of

This isn’t the full wall, overly bright, trying-too-hard version.

This is softer.
More intentional.
More like a glow than a statement.

It’s being used as a surprise.

And honestly… that’s why it works.

Where we’re actually seeing it (and loving it)

Not just signs.

A neon yellow range in an otherwise classic kitchen.
A hit of color in a rug that wakes the whole room up.
Unexpected trim on artwork.
Window treatments that feel just a little off in the best way.
A detail that catches your eye and makes you look twice.

It’s not the whole room.
It’s the thing that makes the room.

A little throwback (but better)

Yes, neon had its moment.

And yes… we all remember it.

But this version feels more refined.
More layered.
More grown up.

It’s less about being bold for the sake of it
and more about adding personality in a way that feels lived-in.

Meg’s Tip

If you’re going to do this, don’t overthink it.

Pick one place.
One moment.
One surprise.

Let everything else feel grounded, warm, and real.

Then add something that makes people pause.

How we’re using it at home

We actually have a neon piece in our dining room.

It’s one of my favorite things in the house.

It says:

“Walk on that water”

And it’s fun, yes.
But it’s also meaningful for our family.

It’s a reminder.
It’s a conversation starter.
It’s something the kids see every day.

And somehow, it fits right into the space without taking it over.

That’s the balance.

So if you’ve been looking for a way to add something unexpected…

this might be your moment.

Xoxo,

Meg
