The idea of the winter months seem like the best time of the year when it involves the holiday season, but what about when the festivities are over and it's time to get back to your normal routine. The downer? Now it's including cold and WINTER months! The best thing you can do for your psyche, is to make your home elicit the feeling of warmth and comfort. Here are some of my best tips to make your home feel ready to take on the winter season:

TIP 1: LAYER WITH THICK TEXTILES

Whether it's your bedding, on the couch or in your reading nook, layering your space with thick and cozy blankets always puts me in the winter spirit. Additionally, switch out your bathroom towels out for a thicker feel – now is the time to take all the extra warmth you can get!

TIP 2: INCORPORATE MOOD LIGHTING

I am all for mood lighting all year 'round, but ESPECIALLY in the winter, dimming your lights and taking advantage of your floor lamp rather than turning on the overhead lighting will get your home ready for winter. Cozy up and hunker down with some warmer lighting – you may never want to go back to the harsh lighting anyways!

TIP 3: BRING IN THE COZY SCENTS

For me, when I think of the holidays and the winter season, I think of all the amazing winter scents. Whichever are you favorites (mine is the balsam and cedar scent), grab a few candles or incense sticks and have them going throughout the house!

TIP 4: decorate with natural elements

If you like to switch up your decor for the season, winter decor feels like natural elements to me. Add wood brass tones throughout the house for a cozy feel to your home.

TIP 5: add seasonal patterns & Textures

When I think winter, I think chunky knits, muted stripes, herringbone and tartan. Add this sparingly through throw blankets, rugs, or decor. I always look out for the end-of-season sales to decorate for the next season! This is a way to make your home feel “winter ready” without the price tag!

Now is the perfect time to transition your home into the cozy,  winter wonderland to get you through the cold season. I hope these tips gave you inspiration to get you started!
